Carl Goldberg was a gifted designer of model aircraft, and his career spanned the evolution of flying models. His designs and number of titles won in competition at the Nationals is legendary. His first competition was the 1928 Nationals, where he received honorable mention. By 1934 he won the indoor Nats and in 1935 he opened a Hobby Shop, among the first in the nation (the first one was probably opened by Cleveland Models Ed Packard). Awards came quickly. He wrote articles for Model Airplane News, and was Comet's top designer from 1939 till 1945. After Comet, he worked with Mike Schlesinger and Sid Axelrod on what eventually became Top-Flite Models. In 1955 he founded Carl Goldberg Models and released a still-popular line of scale, rubber, gas, glider and RC models. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Tasman RAAF CA-27 Avon Sabre Conversion, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

The F-86 Sabre was manufactured in Australia for specific RAAF needs. The largest change was the installation of the Rolls-Royce Mk26 Avon turbojet which had more thrust than the US engine. This in turn required a larger intake. Two Aden cannons were fitted, one to each side. The first flight was in 1953 and a total of 113 were built. They had a long service life and served overseas as well as in combat in Malaysia. When the service life ended in 1971, the aircraft were mothballed. However, the Australian Government gave 16 to Indonesia as a gift in 1973. Very nicely molded conversion uses the Fujimi F-86 as a base kit. It includes an injection molded fuselage and nose and a perfectly clear (not yellowed) canopy. The fuselage has very fine recessed panel lines. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. Please NOTE that decals were not furnished with this kit. It includes the conversion parts only.

The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back.
