1/60  #83-79  Aurora
Beechcraft Super 18 Larger 1/60 Scale
VG+   Injection Molded   old
$140

Ex-Comet molds from 1964 and the first release from Aurora of this kit. Comet made two molds for the Beech 18, a small one and this one, the larger scale (1/60) version. Features clear windows, recessed panel lines, rotating props and pinstripe decals with N numbers. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
1/18  Kyosho-KYO
Convair B-36 Peacemaker Bomber - 9.3 Foot Wingspan 6 Engine Flying Model Airplane
Good++   Multi_Media   old
$750

Very Rare and Very Large Kit. From the late 1950s or early 1960s. Approximatly 1/18 scale flying model aircraft kit with a 112.5 inch (9.375 foot) Wingspan and a overal length of 78 inches (6.5 foot). Designed for powered flight on 6 gasoline engines and control line. It was once popular to convert this kit to RC but great skill is required. Highly prefabricated kit of precut hardwood, precut plywood, precut and pre-shaped balsa, vacuform plastic canopies and blisters, completely prefabricated sprung main and nose metal landing gear with metal hubs and rubber tires. Includes metal hardware also. There are two very large sheets of full size plans. The kit has not been started. Inside is as new - parts are still wrapped in the factory Kyosho tape and the small parts are factory bagged. I ziplocked similar parts (like ribs) during the inventory for safe keeping. The kit is complete with all parts and plans. Plans are 'very good' with some wear and closed splits at the folded corners. Shipping insurance is required with this kit.
1/10  #465-98  Aurora
Frankenstein's Flivver - Original Issue Aurora Kit
NM-   Injection Molded   old
$225

Very rare original issue from 1964 in investment grade condition. The box is in exceptional 'Near Mint-' condition with superb color and gloss, four solid corners and no repairs, no missing litho or litho tears, no creases from stacking or otherwise, no tape or tags and no tape or tag marks. The only flaws are very light edge and corner wear, particularly the upper right corner (please see photo). Inside, the kit is molded in the correct light gray-blue. The kit has not been started. It is complete with all parts and instructions. The instructions are in 'Near Mint' condition with typical yellowing being the only flaw.
1/12  #477-100  Aurora
The Amazing Spider-Man - Original Issue Factory Sealed
Sealed NM   Injection Molded   old
$425

Very rare original issue from 1966 that is still in the factory seal. The box is still 'Mint' but I have graded the kit 'Sealed NM' overall because there is a section of the seal missing on the back upper left and left long side. The rest of the seal is strong and intact. There is no creasing from stacking or other storage flaws. Shipping insurance is required.
1/12  #451-98  Aurora
The Frog - A Castle Creature (William Castle)
Sealed Exc+++   Injection Molded   old
$675

Still factory sealed. Very Rare. 1966 first and only issue. The factory seal is complete and the only damage is 1" on the top side panel, lower side and 1/2" on the right side center. The box grades 'Exc+++' because the right side panel is very slightly convex and there is some creasing. This is one of two 'Castle Creation' figure kits that Aurora did in association with the B Movie horror movie maker and unique promoter William Castle. The other kit was a woman figure as 'The Vampire'. The kits did not sell well and enjoyed a very short run at Aurora, which contributed to their rarity. To date neither the Frog or Vampire has been reissued. Shipping insurance is required on this kit.
1/20  #S-2002  Nichimo
Cessna Skyhawk 172 - Motorized
Exc+++   Injection Molded   old
$645

Large and very highly detailed multi-media model. Contains plastic, metal and rubber parts. Features working lights, engine was designed to be motorized (the Mabuchi 130 electric motor was not furnished by Nichimo), working expansion and contraction struts, real rubber tires, super detailed instrument panel and full interior. Engine detail is incredible and the motor is a kit itself. Each cylinder head is 31 parts - 30 of which are metal cooling fins. The engine alone is over 150 parts not including the firewall and detail there. Mold quality is very high; firewall detail is complete as in the actual aircraft. Five scale, positionable figures are included. Beautiful decals are included to reproduce the detailed two-tone blue striping on the box art. The kit has never been started. All parts are still in the factory bags. Includes instructions and decals in as-new condition. This kit must be shipped insured.
1/72  #8625  AMT

1/8  #CP-01  Hasegawa
Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a (SE-5a) Scout - 1/8 Scale Museum Model Series
Exc++   Injection Molded   old
$2100

Very rare and large 1/8 scale museum quality kit. The three 1/8 aircraft in this series are widely considered to be the finest model aircraft ever produced, and the SE-5 is the hardest to find. This kit duplicates the classic SE-5 using many of the original material in a near perfect representation of the complete structure of the aircraft. There are 999 total parts made from die-cut plywood, Japanese cypress, cast soft metal, brass, aluminum, rubber, injection molded plastic and many other materials. The wingspan is 1012mm (39.8 inches) when assembled. The engineering of the kit is world-class right down to the assembly plans. This kit has not been started. All of the factory parts bags have been inventoried and are still factory sealed except two. Two small bags are split open due to age, but the four parts from these bags are present and not damaged. Please note, this item must be shipped insured.

$179

This is the 1961 hardbox Picture Fleet issue, which is from the original molds of the 'Pre-S' kit from 1954. The Pre'S' Roosevelt was Revell's first aircraft carrier model. Very good kit of a straight-deck Midway class ship in the near-original configuration. Features early heavy AA battery and air wing. The kit has never been started. 1/493  #H401-398  Revell

$135

Very rare motorized kit from 1961. Box is solid and complete but has wear on the top as shown. First and only issue. The hardbox includes the Master Modelers logo. This kit was one in an entire series of motorized kits that Revell issued in 1960, 61 and 62. Mold modification were made to these kits for the series- USS Arizona, USS Coral Sea, Scissors Bridge, Sherman Tank, Sport Fisherman, PT-212, Austin Healey, Corvette, Long Beach Tugboat, Robert E Lee, Allison Turbo-Prop Engine and Ford Ranchero. This is not a complete list. The reason for the discontinuation of the kits is not known. Contributing factors may have included the high selling price or returns issues.
1/72  #385-249  Aurora
USAF 4 Stage Lunar Probe with Launch Pad and Service Tower (SM-75 Thor)
VG++   Injection Molded   old
$650

Very rare kit. First and only issued dated 1959. This is the SM-75 Thor kit with additional parts for the top end to change the IRBM to a Pioneer Satellite Launch Vehicle. Features removable nose cone to show the satellite, retro-rocket and 'Pioneer Rocket'. Full launch pad, service tower, launch crew and flexible fuel and control lines are also included. Never started. The launch pad and service tower is complete with all parts. The missile is missing one of three tiny 'Control Cable Connector'. I had a resin reproduction made of the missing part and it is included. Includes all three decal sheets and instructions in excellent condition. Original tissue paper is included as well.
1/24  #P1  Monogram
Midget Racer - P-1 The First Monogram Plastic Kit
Good++   Injection Molded   old
$225

In the late 1940s/early 1950s, Monogram began to use injection molded details in the famous Speedee-Bilt and SuperKit aircraft models. The parts chosen for injection molding were generally difficult to carve from wood. From this experience, Monogram was ready to embark on all-plastic models. The first effort was kit number P-1 (for plastic kit #1) in 1954, the 1/24 scale Midget Racer. The box is the correct hardbox dated 1954. The advertising on the outside is unique and is used to promote this new type of model and the ease of assembly. The kit and sub-assemblies are pictured and named on the sides. This box has excellent color and gloss, solid side corners, no price tags or tape but suffers average general wear including creases, heavy corner wear at the left and right top, and general soiling as shown. The box bottom is intact with four solid original corners, but one long seam has split. Inside, the kit is molded in the correct red plastic. The parts are still slightly flexible and have much less than the typical warping - usually they are terribly warped, so this was an unusually stable batch of acetate that was correctly molded. The instructions are correctly labeled P-1 and are near mint. The decals are also labeled P-1 and are in 'excellent' condition with the usual yellowing and a slight curve. The correct die-cut windshield is included as well as a Monogram mini-catalog correctly showing the only 8 all-plastic kits available at that date, all all with 'P' kit numbers (no 'PC' or 'PA'). A great piece for the advanced collector.
1/24  #PB217M-298  Monogram
Water Devil Runabout Power Boat
VG   Injection Molded   old
$139

Rare Motorized kit from 1956. This is Monogram's 17th plastic kit. Very nicely molded and detailed. Can be built for static display, rubber powered or electric motor powered. Kit features one piece hull, interior detail, chrome plated deck fittings, skipper and girl figures, rubber drive hardware with original rubber band and winder and motorizing hardware. This kit could easily be made remote control with today's small RC systems. Please be aware the Monogram did not included the electric motor with this kit. Molded in the correct white, dark gloss orange, blue and chrome plastic. Large decal sheet with wood grain and other marking is in very good condition and flat. Never started. NOTE: missing one 'battery plate' that is only used with the motorizing version. Can be easily made from flat, stock plastic if you wish. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals and excellent instructions present.
1/48  #101 FC  Marlin
Chemical and Ladder - American Firefighters
Good++   Injection Molded   old
$165

Very rare. In 1952 Marlin Toy Company of New York City, New York entered the plastic model business. The Revell 'Highway Pioneers' were making a huge impact on the hobby industry and the timing seemed perfect. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters -Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After a run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This is an original Marlin kit. It is molded in dark red and yellow with the small parts still sealed in the factory wax bag. The non-sealed parts have been inventoried complete including rope, metal axles and instructions in excellent condition.
1/100  #8513  Entex
Douglas DC-9-40 Stretch Version - SAS Airlines
Exc+   Injection Molded   old
$125

Large scale DC-9. Very well detailed and includes complete landing gear and full color SAS markings. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bags including decals and instructions.
1/48  #522-98  Lindberg
F-86D Sabre Jet Fighter with First Logo
VG++   Injection Molded   old
$135

Very rare first Lindberg issue with the 'script' logo. From the 1950s with dramatic Ray Gaedke artwork. Molded in high gloss silver and clear. Includes script logo decals and early 'rectangle' instructions which was common. The box was originally numbered 522-79 and has been over-stamped with a factory '98' for the price. Lindberg always used up any old stock and never seemed to waste any boxes, parts, decals or instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box shows better than VG++, but I have graded it as such because there are tears from the factory tape on the long sides. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufactures.
  #S-8180  Revell
Starburst Mobile for 15 Aircraft Models
Good+   Injection Molded   old
$115

Rare. You have seen this item on the old Revell instructions and box side advertisements. 1/50  Heller
Etendard IV with Automatic Landing Gear and Speed Brakes
NM-   Injection Molded   old
$275

Very rare large scale kit with fascinating operating features. Older issue from the late 1950s or early 1960s with high gloss box top artwork. The box is in investment-grade 'Near Mint-' condition. Colors are as bright as new, gloss is perfect and all four corners are solid. There are no price tags or tag marks. The model uses a complex series of 6 cogs and gears with wire springs and twine to make functioning landing gear and speed brakes. When you lower the arresting (tail) hook, the landing gear doors open and the nose and main wheels extend. When you raise the arresting hook, the landing gear retracts and the doors close. Furthermore, when you pull out the parachute release at the tail, the speed brakes lower. When you close it, the speed brakes close. The kit is molded in the correct silver for the airframe, white cogs, gears and pilot, clear two piece opening canopy, real rubber tires and metal springs. Never started. Inside, the kit is like new with all parts still sealed in the factory sealed bag. Decals and instructions are present and are excellent. Postal insurance is required for this kit.
  #KA804  Connecticut Valley Arms
Old Ironsides (USS Constitution) Cannon Kit - Actually Fires Shot
Good   Wood_Metal   old
$175

From 1978. Very rare. This is a scale replica of a USS Constitution carriage and gun. The scale is not given, but the gun measures 7.5 inches long. The gun actually fires a .45 caliber (.440 inch round ball) shot with black powder. The carriage is completely pre-cut and shaped hardwood with metal hardware and the gun is very heavy cast and machined polished metal. Includes full instructions for building and firing. The kit has not been started. NOTE: missing one of four wheels. Luckily, this is simply round wood stock with a hole drilled in the center. It will be very easy to make. Inventoried with all other parts and instructions.
1/128  #433-198  Aurora
'Corsair' American Privateer
Exc   Injection Molded   old
$145

First issue dated 1959 with 'Famous Fighters' logo in the oval sunburst. Privateers were actually civilian ships manned by private citizens. The early US Government gave the ships 'letters of marque' and they were free to raid English shipping interests with the blessing of the US Government. Approximately 500 were in service until the practice was abolished. Although they were technically successful in raiding British shipping, the British soon blockaded the US ports and almost shut down the import/export trade. Well detailed full hull kit. Includes molded rat lines and vacuform molded sails. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts, sails, flag sheet and instructions. Sails are excellent.
