Lindberg F7U-1 Cutlass - (F7U1), 1/48, 510
Lindberg F7U-1 Cutlass - (F7U1), 1/48, 510
Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG,   old
$125

Rare first issue hardbox with script Lindberg logo only. In the 1930s, Paul Lindberg was designing, building and flying stick and tissue aircraft like so many other men and boys of the time. His plans appear in Popular Aviation magazine and he made a good name for himself. When injection molding showed the way to increased kits sales in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he quickly teamed up with Mr. Olsen to create 'O-lin' models. Ray Gaedke was one the the early artists for O-lin. In the early 1950s Paul Lindberg had control and had his name as the logo. The first logo is the one on this kit - 'Lindberg' in script with 'Products' arched across the top and 'Incorporated' arched across the bottom to create a broken circle around the script. Ray Gadke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg and created many timeless classics. Although the early Lindberg kits were all ex-Olin, Lindberg continued the O-lin practice of placing large 1/48 scale kits in a very, very small box such as this kit. The model is molded in an incredible deep gloss blue. It has never been started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Rare first issue hardbox with script Lindberg logo. The first logo is the one on this kit - 'Lindberg' in script with 'Products' arched across the top and 'Incorporated' arched across the bottom to create a broken circle around the script. Ray Gaedke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg, such as the box painting for the Nautilus here. The Nautilus appears to be the first sea vessel that Lindberg cut it's own molds for - the Chris Craft Express Cruiser, PT Boat, LST and Fleet Submarine (Ex-Varney) were done by O-lin. The model is an interesting work of fact and fiction - it includes a deck gun and what looks like a Regulus II missile for the deck! The scale is not known but it measures about 12 inches long when assembled. The model has never been started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Early in the development of the Seiran submarine based float plane, two preproduction airframes emerged with retractable landing gear for land operation. These were likely the 5th and 6th prototypes and they had dual controls. They were given the 'K' designation for trainer. They could also be operated from the submarines as they had the same catapult attachment. Training may have taken place like this with and airbase landing. It is interesting that the original Seiran concept did not call for floats as the aircraft would launch from the submarine catapult and crash-land beside the submarine when the mission was over. Limited edition kit. Features fine recessed panel line detail and decals for both aircraft. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
