North American P-51D Mustang - 22 inch Wingspan Gas or Rubber Powered Wooden Aircraft Kit Good+ Wood old | ||
| 1970s large scale issue for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using today's tiny and light servos and receivers. Box art is by Locher, who did a great deal of the Monogram box artwork also. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with all die cut parts, 'Tube-O-Matic' fuselage construction and 'Rugged Super X Simplified Non-Warping Wing' construction, colorful insignia, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, hardware, tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Comet was a famous manufacture of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. | |||

1932 Pierce Arrow 12 Cylinder Custom Convertible Roadster Good+ Injection Molded old | ||
| 1965 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. The model includes chrome plated, colored and clear parts. Features detailed chassis with suspension, steering linkage and gas tank, spoked wheels, complete motor and interior, dual rear mount spares and a removable hood.NOTE: the kit has minor assembly. The fenders, hood and engine halves have been assembled. Quality of assembly is excellent - all parts are a very tight fit with no excess glue. There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. | |||

| Third issue of this classic kit. The box is dated 1956 but you can see the new 'Famous Fighters' logo with the sunburst in the oval which would date this kit to 1957-59. Earlier in the 1950s a company called 'Helicopters for Industry' created a line of large early kits. In 1956 Aurora bought the molds and quickly reissued these models with new box artwork. Large kit features cockpit, spinning rotors, rotating wheels and opening doors. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear plastic.
