Hobby M24 Chaffy Light Scouting Tank Motorized With 5 Actions, 1/31, Z51-350

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Very, very rare. As a matter of fact, John Burns never listed this manufacturer, and according to Worthpoint one has never appeared on Ebay or any on-line auction or sale. Clearly of Japanese original and possibly the second issue but the mold origins are unknown. The box says 1/35, but the instructions (correct and also marked "Hobby") say 1/31. This is a scale model, and has the typical detail of Japanese tank kits of the early/mid 1960s. It is very unique in that one motor performs five actions - it can go straight, turn right then back to the left after a short run, go in circles (I think), do a U Turn and the turret rotates right and left. This is done through a fascinating and complicated gear, cams and lever system. There are no less than 11 gears with many other pieces of metal hardware. The TKK Mabuchi 25 motor is included and in a 'very good' condition early TKK box. The motor is still wrapped in the printed plastic bag and the accessories are present. Inside, the kit is just like it left the factory. All the parts except the upper and lower hull and treads are still in factory sealed bags. The decals look 'excellent' and the instructions are 'near mint.' Amazingly, the treads are completely intact and fully flexible! 'Hobby' issued other tanks as well - the side of the box shows a Soviet tank labeled "III", a JGSDF Type 61 tank and a M41. No others are listed. Please email me if you have more information on this manufacturer. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Cleveland Senior Albatross Glider With 10 Foot Wingspan, E-22

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Very rare in this condition and still in the original box. Giant glider designed for R/C or free-flight operation. Cleveland originally issued this kit in the 1940s and this is the final iteration dated 1959. There are R/C suggestions in the instructions but the hardware layout is up to you. The kit has never been started and is as it left the factory - I was the first one to go through it. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and plans. The plans are 'excellent' with some yellowing on the exposed panels and only several spots of very light and small bug damage. Although this is the original box, the Cleveland label is on one short side is torn.

Renwal USS Sarasota Attack Transport PA-24, 1/500, S605-149

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Very rare. Dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s. This is a full hull kit, that is very nicely molded and finely detailed for that time. NOTE: this kit has minor, neat assembly. The hull halves, prop and rudder & center deck have been assembled and the bow gun platform has been partially assembled (5 parts glued together). Quality of assembly is 'excellent+' to 'professional.' There is no other assembly and zero painting. I dry fitted the decks to the hull and they fit perfectly. The model kit has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Frog SE 210 Caravelle Air France, 1/96, F357

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Rare, big scale kit from the 1950s. The box is nice with four solid corners but has creasing and wear as shown. Inside, the kit is molded in the correct clear and silver with the correct big Frog base that was unique to these larger kits. Even the original glue capsule is included. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. As often happened, the decals were folded at the factory; that and age have caused some minor lifting on the decals.

Frog Handley Page Victor B.1. Crescent Wing 'V Force' Bomber, 1/96, 355P

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Rare. Classic 1950s Frog kit in large 1/96 scale of this famous 'V Force' Bomber. The box displays well with very nice color and gloss, but is graded only 'good' because one corner is split and has clear tape on it, there is clear tape on the sides where someone taped the box shut, and there is general wear as shown. Nicely molded kit with all recessed pane lines and full landing gear that can be installed up or retracted. The kit is molded in off-white and clear with the large, black Frog stand that was unique to the bigger kits. The decals are flat and in excellent condition - even the clear wax paper covering is intact. Instructions are excellent also. There is even an unopened tube of FROG Polystyrene Cement! The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufactures in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

Very nicely detailed. Features crew of three, detailed cockpit, elevating and traversing rear turret, opening and closing bomb bay doors, operating wing flaps, operating spoilers, optional position entry hatch and landing gear, and optional parts to display one nacelle open to show the jet engine.

Unusual issue copyright 1959 but actually from 1963-65. Please note, it has the early 79 cent price extension but with a non-famous fighters logo. The box has like new color and gloss and four solid corners, but the seal drew the box slightly concave. There are no tape or price tags, no fading and no stains. It is molded in that fantastic bright yellow and clear with the triangle-shaped 'world' base stand. The kit has never been started. Renwal The Visible Airplane Engine WASP 9 Cylinder Radial by Pratt & Whitney, 1/4, 809

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

From the late 1950s. Very large (1/4 scale) and highly detailed kit. By far the finest working visible aircraft engine kit ever made. Comes with electric motor, gear and battery boxes and all hardware. Transparent housings permit viewing the correctly working pistons, valves, rocker arms, connecting rods, cam and gears in action with synchronized firing of the spark plugs using red electric bulbs. Propeller also changes pitch. Kit is molded in clear, red, black, blue metallic and gray plastic. Inside, the kit is as it left the factory. The inner (bottom or tray) box is excellent, and all cardboard inserts and clear panels are intact as shown and display very well. The outer box has seen significant wear as you can see. It had closed splits along the seams (corners and one side) and I correctly fixed those from the inside with card stock and book binding glue. The kit has not been started. It has been very carefully inventoried and the plastic parts are 100% complete. The metal parts and bulbs are all still in factory sealed envelopes. The Renwal cement is present and mint. Includes all the factory paperwork- instructions, parts sheet, yellow lubrication warning, small Renwal catalog and special booklet on 'The Aircraft Engine and How It Operates.' All of these are in 'excellent' to 'near mint' condition. It is amazing that this kit is complete - most of these models, even if still factory sealed, are missing parts due to poor packing procedures.
