Features full hull, display stand, many separately molded deck fittings, a full set of plastic sails, rigging thread and more. Molded in wood tan and white. Never started. Includes both superb ship models from modern 2006 Revell of Germany molds. Both are full hull models with excellent detail. And Revell took the time to capture the differences between the two ships in these models. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The story of Emden's Indian Ocean raiding career in WWI is legendary. The story of Dresden's short career in WWI also interesting. She was serving with the German East Asiatic Squadron; near the start of hostilities they made a voyage across the Pacific Ocean hoping to go around South America and return to Germany via the Atlantic. The squadron came across Sir Christopher Cradock's British Squadron in the South Pacific at Coronel. There the Germans won a great victory over Cradock; the problem was that now the Germans were sited and their intentions known. The British positioned battlecruisers at the Falkland islands in anticipation; they did not have long to wait. When the Germans were sighted, the British casually got ready then sailed, knowing their superior speed and gun range could make short work of the biggest ships the Germans had. The British were correct; the Germans were soundly defeated off the Falklands. However, the Dresden was the only German ship to survive. She went back around Cape Horn in the Pacific and successfully hid for several months, only to be eventually found near Mas a Tierra (Chile) by Glasgow and Kent. Knowing that escape was impossible, the Dresden was scuttled by her crew. The wreck still lies in the harbor today.

First issue 'S' kit dated 1958 that includes a factory-wrapped 4" long never used tube of colorful Revell 'S' Cement. The metal tube is in amazing 'near mint' condition and is not the usual small size issued with the early kits. As with most all Revell early ship kits, the model is finely molded and very well detailed. It measures about 15 inches long when assembled and features full detail on the top two decks, all cannons, complete deck fittings, prefabricated rat lines, vac sails, full standing and running rigging material, display stand and much more. The model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, flags, sails, thread and instructions present. The sails are in remarkable 'near mint' condition. Also includes the excellent booklet 'The Story of Ships' and an order form for 'The Dawning Space Age' book. Please NOTE that the box is only 'good-' due to clear packing tape at the two lower corners and a closed corner split at the upper left; there is also general wear and scuffs. The anchor stocks of this kit have molded-on rings; more often than not, the rings are either short shot or broken off; this kit is no exception.

While all parts are present, please NOTE that the display stand is broken; the broke part is present and fits back perfectly with no gap. The propeller is missing one blade; that blade is not present. One of part number tags would made the basis of an ideal replacement as is the right color, thickness and even has the right camber. The 295' bark rigged sailing ship was built in 1936 in Bremerhaven, Germany, for the German Navy. It was originally named Horst Vessel. The vessel was acquired in 1946 as a World War II war reparation. The ship was named the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, and has been used ever since as a training ship for future U.S. Coast Guard Officers. Eagle is based in New London, Connecticut.
