Anigrand Bell XP-83, 1/72, AA2054

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Very highly detailed resin kit. Still internally sealed. Complete with decals and instructions. In 1942, Bell designed the first U.S. jet fighter, the P-59. Due to the small fuel capacity and a very fuel-hungry engine, it lacked a good operational range and could only serve as a training aircraft. In 1943, USAAF issued a requirement for a long range fighter with sufficient range to escort bombers over very long distance. Convair's XP-81 and North American's XP-82 were submitted to the program. Because they preferred a pure jet fighter, the USAAF also asked Bell to submit a design based on it's P-59 experience. In July 1944, Bell submitted Model 40 and the Air Force ordered two prototypes, designated XP-83. Only seven months later, the first XP-83 made its first flight in February 1945. However, the aircraft was under-powered and unstable. With the end of the war, the need for a long-range fighter had eliminated so the XP-83 project was abandoned. The first XP-83 was used in ramjet test until it crashed in September 1946. The second XP-83 was used in gunnery test until scrapped in 1947.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare first issue from 1956 with Jim Cox 'ground scene' artwork and the 1956-only Northern Lights rectangular logo. Features 'good' cockpit, instructor and student pilot figures, rotating propeller and wheels, full landing gear and more. The model is 100% correct inside for the early issue; it is molded in gloss yellow and clear plastic, includes the early West Hempstead clear rectangle-based stand, correct decal sheet with no stand decal and early logo instructions showing the included stand. The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Boeing B-47 Stratojet, 1/180, 493-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

This issue uses the same classic Jo Kotula artwork from 1956. Molded in high gloss silver and clear plastic. Aurora was known for being efficient and economical; old decals and instructions were always used and this model is a fine example of this. Although the new 'Triangle Base' Map stand came out in 1957, this kit includes the old clear rectangle base stand, correct rectangle base stand instructions and decals as well. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts, decals, instructions.

Pyro 1909 Lozier Briarcliff - Vintage Brass Car Series, 1/32, C455-125

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+

Sold

1967 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of the kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Lozier was a large four cylinder T-Head rated at 45 horsepower. The wheelbase was 124 inches and she rode on huge 36 x 4.5 tires. This Pyro car model is based on a car that was owned by Thomas J Lester of Chagrin Falls, Ohio that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. The model includes rubber tires, brass plated, colored and clear plastic parts. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions.
