Museum quality craftsman kit. Features hardwood, kiln-dried, precarved hull, extensive high quality cast Britannia fittings and other hardwood and metal parts as required. Includes very detailed full size plans and instructions. This issue is from the late 1980s or early 1990s. The kit has never been started. The parts that were never factory sealed (hull, wood and metal stock) have been inventoried complete. Most of the fittings are still in factory sealed bags in the factory box; the few fittings bags that were opened have been inventoried complete. Includes plans and instructions. The Liberty Ships were built in vast numbers very quickly in response to the emergency shipping requirements of WWI. German U-Boats put tremendous pressure on Britain and the USA to maintain supply lines. Generally British in design, the Liberty Ship borrowed much from later WWI designs and was adapted to American mass-production techniques. Over 2700 were built, easily making it the most produced ship (of one class) in history. The replacement in 1944 was the Victory Ship, of which Bluejacket also makes a model.

Large scale, full-hull model that can be motorized for R/C operation. Features full deck fittings and even complete railings. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. The brass prop shaft tubes are installed in the hull, but I believe that was done at the factory. The quality of the work is 'professional.' This version does not include the motor but still contains the driveline parts. The Zhongshan/Yongfeng was the class leader of four 780-ton coastal defense ships ordered from Mitsubishi in Japan by the Chinese Qing Empire in 1910. In the agreement6 between the naval minister Prince Rui, Admiral Sa Zhenbing and the Japanese, the first two ships were built in Japan and the second pair at Jiangnan Shipyard in China with Japanese technical help. All four ships differed slightly from one another. Due to their small size (less than 1000 tons displacement), these ships are also frequently called gunboats. She lead a very active career. In the Second Sino-Japanese War, the ship was in the Battle of Wuhan. She was bombed and sunk in the Yangtze River by the Japanese on 24 October 1938. But the story does not end there. The cultural department of Hubei received permission recover the Zhongshan in 1986. She was finally salvaged from the Yangtze on January 28th, 1997. By 2001, Zhongshan was restored to her 1925 appearance except for some of the damage which sank her in 1938. The gunboat is now on display in its own museum in Wuhan. I believe this is the only remaining example of a gunboat from this time.

Bagged kit - there is no box. The box is shown for reference only! This kit represents somewhat of a mystery. We know that UPC did not make any of their own tooling, but the mold origin of this kit is unknown. In an apparent cost saving measure, the large box re-uses the same Scott Edison box art from the 1/72 UPC F-4 which is an ex-Hasegawa kit. The dramatic box art claims this is a F-4C; however, the instructions state that it is an F-4H-1. Since they are a copy of the original manufacturers instructions, I believe the instructions. The kit is interesting for the level of detail. It includes the internal fuselage fuel tanks and two detailed engines. The cockpit features ejection seats, two pilots, side instrument panels, control stick, main panels and opening canopies. Rudders, ailerons, flaps and elevators all move and the wings fold as well. There are internal wing fuel tanks. The landing gear retracts and extends and all gear doors close also. The nose can be removed to display a detailed radar package. A wide choice of wing and fuselage loadouts is provided, with numerous AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, iron bombs and a centerline drop tank. There is one large decal sheet with two decal choices - 'FJ-199' USAF as shown on the box art, and a US Navy aircraft from VF-102 USS Enterprise. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

NOTE: very neatly built up kit. Hard-to-find 1/48 scale armor kit in the block 'Aurora' log box from 1976 improved molds. Features elevating gun, rotating turret and operating treads and bogies. Someone did such a great job of a 'classic build' that I could not throw it out. Also includes the famous Battle Terrain Base and 'excellent' condition decals. The tank is complete; the machine gun is present but so little glue was used that it simply fell off. That is good; this way it cannot be broke in shipping. When glued to the turret it is the most fragile part of the model.
