The actual kit is the 1977 issue. Very nice scale model of Lt.(jg) John F. Kennedy's historical ship. Measures just over 13 inches long when assembled. Features 4 torpedo tubes, 2 twin .50 caliber machine guns, 20mm cannon, life raft, 4 crew figures, rudder and prop detail and more. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing one short vent - I have included one extra of the 'long' vent. If you cut it down, you can use it. Inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions present.

Rare 1/48 scale model of this 1950s "Penetration Fighter." Hardbox is dated 1958, but the logo tells us that this is a early/mid 1960s issue since there is no 'Famous Fighters' in the oval logo. The factory put a tiny '100' circle sticker over the '98' in the part number. This issue has the correct triangle two-piece clear base as well as full landing gear and rockets. Molded in silver and clear. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both 'excellent' with slight yellowing as the only real flaws. This is reissue of one of Aurora's first two plastic kits (F-90 and F9F) which were actually copies of the Hawk molds. The Mates brothers were initially very upset about Aurora's improper move and a few tense words were shared at wholesale toy shows. But as time passed, all was forgiven and it eventually became a joke. But Hawk began to secretly 'mark' their products so that future reproducers could be spotted.

First release dated 1954 in the low profile box (1" high vs. 1.5" high for later issues). Includes correct first issue globe stand with three parts instead of four. The instructions also show the three piece stand. The box has excellent color and gloss, four solid corners and no tape, tape marks, price tags or tag marks. Never started. All small parts are still factory bag sealed, and the kit is complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is such an early issue that it has the earliest decal sheet which has an error. There is suppose to be a triangle on each side of the fuselage near the cockpit. The original sheet has just one of these - Revell had to issue a second decal sheet with the kit with another triangle on it. That extra decal sheet is present in this kit.
