ITC Halibut SSGN 587 Cam-A-Matic Submarine - (Electric Powered Diving Motorized Regulus Sub), 1/175, 3660-998

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

From 1960. NOTE: kit is 100% complete but has minor (6 parts neat assembly so please read carefully. This model is the zenith of the ITC Design and Engineering Team, and maybe of all operational plastic model kits. It is not only rare but is considered the most complicated operating model ever produced. The large 24.75 inch submarine sails from the power of a large electric motor driving twin geared propellers. It changes headings, dives, surfaces, and a Regulus II missile comes out of the hanger and launches...all automatically. The engineering on this kit is fantastic and a major break-through for that time. The model worked, and did work well, but was certainly not a toy for inexperienced model builders. The high price ($9.98) and difficulties that youngsters had with assembly and operation made for a short production run. The fact the ITC left the model business for good shortly after releasing the kit contributed to the scarcity as well. The boxtop displays much better than the 'good' grade; I have graded it 'good' because the box has clear tape on it, split corners, a taped closed tear of 2.5" on one long side and general wear as shown. Molded in the correct white and red, with numerous metal shaft, chain, screws and the correct motor. Inside, the kit is in very good condition but NOTE: it has neat, minor assembly. The main batter cover, battery contact and wire have been assembled. It was adult done to 'professional' quality. On the top inner hull, parts 11, 16 and 14 are installed, to 'excellent+ to professional' quality. A very small 1/2" x 1/4" (1.3 x .6 cm) clear panel is installed on the underside center of the lower hull - the work done is 'excellent++' and it is watertight. There is no other assembly. The kit has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts present and decals (stickers) and instructions. Stickers and instructions are in 'near mint' condition. The factory internal packing cardboard is complete and in 'excellent+' condition as shown. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Berkeley Super-Brigadier - 58 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft For R/C - (Super Brigadier)

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Early radio control design with a very large wingspan. In the free-flight roll, it meets the old Pan-American Airways Pay-Load Contest requirements for class A and B. Note the similarity in design to the early free-flight models - most early RC models had this appearance because of the stability required due to the difficult and unpredictable nature of early R/C control. Model features shaped and notched wing edges, die-cut plywood firewall, complete metal hardware, cut out windshield, superb full size plans with building instructions, rubber wheels, covering material and much more. Never started and complete. Berkeley is a very famous manufacturer of flying model kits from the Golden Age of flying aviation, about 1932-1954. Founded in 1933 by William Effinger, the company was quite progressive in producing quality kits - it was likely the Berkeley 'Buccaneer' was the first gas powered model in kit form. In the later 1930s, Effinger acquired the services of a very talented Henry Struck. Struck went on to design numerous award-winning kits under the Berkeley name. Berkeley weathered the post WWII recession and emerged as a major kit producer in the late 1940 and 1950s. These were great years for Berkeley and they produced some incredible and large kits. The company went bankrupt in about 1960 however. Fox engines (Duke Fox) bought the company and released the kits alongside his own FOX models and engines. This arrangement did not last, and in the early 1960s the Berkeley name disappeared from hobby shop shelves.

Berkeley The Buccaneer 48 - For R/C or Free Flight

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Older Berkeley kit of one of the classics in early gas free-flight. The box claims this is 'America's First Gasoline Model Airplane Construction Kit'. It certainly was not the first gasoline powered model to fly, but it very may well have been the first marketed kit. The large Buccaneer was designed for class A and B gas engines. Kit features printed wooden parts, semi-finished wooden blocks, formed landing gear, silkspan covering, full size detailed plans and streamline wheels. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Sold

Still factory sealed. Dates from the early 1970s. Large scale issue for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using modern tiny and light servos and receivers. Box art is by Locher, who also did a great deal of the Monogram box artwork. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with all die cut parts, 'Tube-O-Matic' fuselage construction and 'Rugged Super X Simplified Non-Warping Wing' construction, a very large and colorful insignia sheet, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, hardware, tissue and propeller. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Revell Boeing B-29 Superfortress Bomber, 1/315, 4301

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Dated 1979. Possibly the last issue for the original 1950s 'S' molds. The kit inside has the same parts as the original issue but with a different box, stand and decals as per the boxart. This is the most colorful of all the decals Revell issued with this kit, as it includes the yellow/black nacelle bands and the yellow fuselage band as well as nose art and all other markings shown. Megow Rearwin Speedster - 30 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft, 1/13, J9

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Poor

Sold

Rare wartime issue from about 1943 and an ideal builder. Large scale (1/12.8) flying model has stick and tissue construction. Includes the following: factory cut spars and stringers (still held together with the factory string), two sheets of thin hardwood printwood, other thin wood sheet stock and block stock as required, disc wheels, fully formed thrust button and wire prop/rubber hook, factory rough-cut wooden prop, covering tissue and full size plans. I have done an inventory and I would say the kit is complete with all parts. The plans show the motor hum device, but that did not come with wartimes issues because was made from strategic materials (metal). NOTE: there is no assembly but about 10 fuselage bulkheads are neatly cut out. They are all included. The box is rough and fragile. Plans are in very surprising 'very good++' condition.
