1970s very large scale kit with 54 inch wingspan. For rubber or gas free flight or RC (radio control). This is a reissue of a much older Comet kit. Features traditional wood/tissue construction with high-quality balsa pre-cut stringers, balsa printwood, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, rubber, tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. The parts are still sealed in the internal factory bag and includes instructions. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

The first aircraft to fly across the Atlantic in formation! The S-55 was a unique aircraft with the passenger compartments in the floats and the cockpit in the wing; the two engines are mounted in tandem push/pull above the cockpit. The S-55 proved to be very reliable and airworthy, setting 14 world records for speed, altitude and distance with a payload. Three months before Lindbergh's solo Atlantic flight, and S-55 flew with stops from Italy to Rio and NY City. In 1933 Marshal Balbo led 25 S-55s to Chicago in about 48 hours. He then flew back without incident. This issue did not come with the color reference booklet. Never started. Factory sealed bag with decals and instructions.

Molded in high-gloss gray, no rivet detail, no landing gear/missiles (the rivets and gear/missiles did not come till later issues) and correct instructions/decals. Rare 1950s hardbox issue with colorful Ray Gaedke boxart. This kit has a long and interesting history. These molds were originally created by Varney in the 1940s - please see the article on this website about this. The Varney PT-17 was one of the first injection molded plastic aircraft kits produced in the USA. O-Lin, of which Paul Lindberg was one-half of, purchased the Varney molds and released the kit after slight mold modifications. When O-Lin became Lindberg, the kit was released once - this kit - with the minimally modified molds. After this release, the molds were modified more significantly. Molded in glossy yellow, black and clear. The model has not been started. It is complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The parts are the correct early issue. The box displays better than the 'fair' rating but is graded a such to due to heavy wear at the right side of the box top and missing litho along the entire right short side.

1969 'Green Box' issue. The Panzer IV mounted one 75mm gun and two MG24 machine guns. The 'H' variant depicted here had extra armor plates hung loosely from the sides to pre-detonate hollow charge projectiles. The kit can be built with or without this additional armor. Turret rotates and gun elevates. Detailed moving flexible treads and bogeys have spring action. Cupola lid opens. Includes extra tread links, Jerry cans and helmets with two crew figures. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Please note that the decals are present but heavily aged; you will need to provide your own decals if you wish to build the kit. Box is badly stained and not in collectible condition.
