1970s issue of the Comet Build-N-Fly series created to introduce a new generation to the time-honored hobby of wooden aircraft assembly and flight. Designed to be very easy to construct and fly. Features tissue-covered high-lift wing and tail surfaces, stick fuselage, fully formed wheels, prop, rubber motor and detailed plans. Never started and complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

The Do-24 was being build in Holland under license . When the Germans invaded, they found 3 done and 25 in various states of completion. The Air Ministry was looking for aircraft suitable to salvage sunk aircraft, and the Do-24 fit the bill. The American Wright engines were removed and BMWs installed. The Do-24 went on to see successful service in WWII as recon, supply and ambulance aircraft. A squadron was supplied to Spain, and one Do-24 remained operational until 1970. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

The white parts are still in the factory sealed bag. The clear and chrome parts were never sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition and the instructions are 'very good++' with very minor bug damage and slight yellowing as the only flaws.

Very rare. Original issue hardbox dated 1960. I believe this is the one and only issue of this model. The box is in 'excellent' condition with like-new color and gloss, no tape or tags, no marks from either, no fading and no missing litho. The only flaws are light general wear as shown and two corners with closed splits. Inside, this is the same 1955 'S' issue kit with original 'Black Magic' decals, an electric motor and additional motorizing parts added. Features motorized movable tracks for climbing grades and obstacles, detailed suspension, opening hatches, elevating gun and rotating turret. Includes tank commander soldiers 'Set For Action.' The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. An additional addendum set of motorizing instructions are present. Please NOTE that there is some brown packing tape on the instructions but it does not interfere with the assembly. This kit must be shipped insured.
