Aurora SNJ Trainer, 1/48, 80-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very likely the 3rd issue of this kit because the boxtop oval logo does not have the 'Famous Fighters' in the border, making this the 1963+ issue. This was a good kit for the time, featuring 'good' cockpit detail, pilot and student figures, rotating prop and US Navy decals. Molded in yellow and clear. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Monogram GAM-63 Rascal Missile with Transporter/Loader and Tractor, 1/48, PD42

Very rare. This is the one and only issue of this kit, dated 1958. High-quality Monogram Four Star kit with plenty of features. Includes folding missile fins, transporter/loader that actually cranks up and down and moves side-to-side and the tractor/tug. Molded in orange/yellow, bright red, white and black plastic. The kit has no assembly. NOTE: the tractor tread parts have some black painting in them (about 20% painted). There is no other painting to any other parts. Monogram Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat - (F6F5) Blue Box Issue, 1/48, PA80-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Dated 1967. Most likely the second issue of this classic kit and the first 'Blue Box' issue. Dated 1967. A great kit for that time that has many any action features - wings fold properly as on actual aircraft, landing gear retracts including tail wheel and arresting hook, wheels and prop rotates and it includes bombs, drop tanks and rockets. Molded in a beautiful gloss dark blue, black and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE: the decals are 100% intact but have age micro cracking. Please see the article (on this website) about using these or any older kit decals.

Revell USS Missouri - Pre 'S' Issue Narrow Box, 1/535, H301-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

First release 1953 hardbox pre 'S' kit. This is the first ship that Revell cut the molds for. Earlier Revell ship releases were Ex-Gowland and Gowland molds for the small scale sailing ship series. The box is graded Excellent and it is one of the better (not the best but close) I have seen, with excellent color. There is some edge wear and clear tape neatly applied to one corner. Inside the kit is 100% correct. The plastic is the high gloss medium gray. The instructions are the correct 'large' release for the first issue. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts, flag sheet and instructions present.

Revell F-100 Super Sabre 'S' Issue Box, 1/70, H236-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

NOTE: builder kit ONLY. Please read carefully. This is an original "S" kit hardbox with original "S" instructions. However, the kit inside is from the original "S" molds but is a much newer issue, probably from the late 1970s. The plastic is silver like the original but not as glossy. The decals are from this newer issue too and are in 'mint' condition. There is an original Revell "S" clear Swivel Globe base included but NOTE it is missing the small clear clamp. Kit features pilot and cockpit, drop tanks, bombs and full landing gear. The airplane has never been started and is complete with all parts.

Comet North American P-51B Mustang Speed Glider - 18 inch Wingspan Flying Model, G2

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

From 1944. The 'Speed Glider' here was designed by the great Carl Goldberg. This type of model was tied to a string, which was in turn connected to a wooden stick 2 or 3 feet long. An accomplished pilot could whip the aircraft around, performing an excellent variety of stunts. As you can imagine, the kit has very sturdy construction to take these high speed maneuvers. It features two sheets of die cut, thin hardwood parts, hardwood and balsa stock, two sheets of full color covering material with complete aircraft color, windows and insignia (which completely eliminates painting) and detailed plans with balance and flight information. The fuselage is profile, while the wings and tail surfaces are built up the traditional stick and tissue way. Although in the end, there is no tissue but the superb full color decorated paper wraps that cover all the surfaces of the model. This kit has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts, covering papers and plans. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Comet Piper Cub J-3 - 25.5 inch Wingspan Gas or Rubber Powered Wooden Aircraft (J3), 1623

Sold

From the early to mid 1970s. Large scale issue for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using today's tiny and light servos and receivers. Box art is by Locher, who did a great deal of the Monogram box artwork also. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with all die cut parts, 'Tube-O-Matic' fuselage construction and 'Rugged Super X Simplified Non-Warping Wing' construction, colorful insignia sheet for civil or US Army versions, detailed full size plans with building instructions, die-cut printwood, factory-cut stripwood with leading and trailing wing edges, fully formed and finished wooden main and tail wheels & thrust button, hardware, tissue and plastic propeller. Never started and inventoried complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. Mod-Ac Horse And Harness, 1/24, 053

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Rare. Age unknown - likely 1940s. This model contains a horse and full harness as an accessory to the extensive Mod-Ac carriage line in the same (1/24) scale. The horse is beautifully cast in one piece to the pose on the box top. There is no carving needed. Also includes harness material, formed wire parts, harness cutting templates and full instructions. Never started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag. The other parts have been inventoried complete with the directions. If it were not for Mod-Ac, we would not have many accurate models of early historic Western transportation; as an added bonus, they were all made to a uniform 1/24 scale. Mod-Ac was a manufacture of early hobby kits out of Los Angeles California. During World War II they issued a well known kit line of military vehicles. The company was innovative as this kit shows - the wide variety of materials, pre-carved wood and highly detailed plans and instructions put this model many notches above the 'make wood look like vehicle' type of kit.
