Revell Graf Zeppelin German Aircraft Carrier, 1/720, 05164

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

From 2019 and a fine kit of 'Flugzeugtrager A' or 'Aircraft Carrier A'. Very nicely molded and highly detailed model from newer Revell of Germany molds. Features 161 pieces, full hull with propellers & rudder detail, open rear elevator well with lowered elevator, ships boats, separately molded main and secondary AA armament, searchlights, range finders, directors, detailed island structure, an airwing of Bf-109Ts with folded or straight wings, Ju-87 Stuka Dive Bombers with folded or straight wings and more. Includes a full color paint guide and extensive decals for the ship, flight deck and aircraft. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. This German WWII aircraft carrier has a fascinating history. She was laid down in 1936, and launched in 1938. Raeder pressed for proper fitting out and completion, but ran into continuous and powerful resistance from Goring, who did not like the idea of the Navy having a mobile air-arm. Goring's interference proved conclusive and the ship, which was 95% complete, never entered service. The air wing was to be navalized Bf-109 Fighters and Ju-87 Dive Bombers. Work stopped completely in 1943 as Hitler became frustrated with the Navy. On April 25, 1945, the Germans scuttled the nearly complete carrier at Stettin just before the Russians arrived. What happened next has been unclear for years. It was generally assumed that the ship struck a mine and sank after the Soviets raised her. With the opening of Russian records, this story can be completed. In 1946 the Soviets raised the ship and towed it to Leningrad. There, they hoped to rebuild it and use it for her intended purpose. This proved to be impossible at the time, so in 1947 it was towed to sea and used as an target. In 2006, the wreck was actually located.

Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Italeri TWO DUKW / TWO (Really Four) ISU-152 / TWO Kubelwagen / ICM ATZ-5320 Fuel Bowser, 1/72, 7022

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG to Good

Sold

SALE!! Includes all 7 (actually 9) kits in the boxes shown. The Italeri ISU-152 kit includes one 'quick-build' and one normal kit. Since there are two sets in one box, there are 4 tank kits in this one box. NOTE: Sold AS-IS and not inventoried. This collector was very meticulous. Of the many thousands of his kits that I did inventory,, 95+% are complete. But on these kits he cut the sprue (trees) with the part numbers still attached to each number, so the parts are loose. Because of that, I have not inventoried these kits. NOTE: he built minor sub assemblies (gun barrels, chassis, etc.) to 'professional' quality. Again, these kits are sold not inventoried and AS IS hence the very low price.

Comet Cessna 140 Struct-O-Speed - 9.5 Inch Wingspan Flying Balsa Model, 2104-29

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. They lead the low-priced kit revolution in the 1930s with their famous adds in Model Airplane News. Comet reached it's peak when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg, who had made a name for himself with famous designs that won the Nationals during the 30s and articles in Model Airplane News. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Sales sagged after WWII as they did for all balsa kit manufacturers but Comet survived till bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. When sales sagged again in the 1960s, Comet's response was the easier to build Struct-O-Speed series with a significant amount of prefabrication that dramatically reduced assembly time. Light and well designed, these kits flew well. This one features 3D fuselage with sheeted sides, one piece horizontal and vertical stabilizers, one piece wing, detailed full size plans with building instructions, fully formed wooden wheels and a balsa propeller. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Revell Mickey Thompsons Challenger I - Worlds Fastest Car 406.6 MPH, 1/25, H1281-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed and this is the 1990s reissue of the original 1962 kit. When released in 1962, this car was one of the revolutionary Revell kits that broke new ground in 1/25 level of detail. In Tom Graham's interviews with Jim Keeler, the kit designer, the molds cost $80,000 in 1961 - twice that of a normal car kit. To design the kit, Thompson's mechanics gave the Revell team full run of the vehicle and even disassembled it for them. The model features removable boy panels, four super detailed Pontiac V-8 engines with 18 parts each, complete chassis, suspension and drive train detail, water tanks, fuel tanks, parachute holder, cockpit and much more. The level of detail is astounding for that time.

AMT Surf Woody Or Surf Hearse - Stock / Street Rod / Hearse, 1/25, 2166-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Rare original issue from the late 1960s and not a common reissue. This is a 'special' kit because one of the versions is a rather grisly Maltese-Cross bedecked Hearse with a coffin-lid shaped surfboard on the top. Decals even include 'Kill Markings' of other automobiles, insects and humans with over-sized feet as well as a large surfboard decal representing the inside of a padded casket. As if that was not enough, a box side illustration shows the German-Themed Meat Mobile parked at a graveyard around midnight as a supernatural lighting effect seems to join the aft compartment of the wagon to the gravestones. In the distance is the wreckage of a once advanced civilization. There is little doubt that this kit would be an ideal way for Junior to come to grips with his own mortality and begin to fathom his (hopefully) distant yet important trip to the great beyond. The model features a detailed engine with dual blowers, rolling tube chassis build just like an actual race car, two different interiors, 'normal' body and hearse box, optional fenders for all four wheels, a large wood grain decal and an ever larger decal sheet. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Molded in white, clear, chrome plate and with rubber tires. NOTE: this model has minor and very neat 'profession' quality subassembly as noted: engine block halves, heads and oil pan; basic frame (4 pieces total) and rear differential halves. There is no other assembly. inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. There is one small tire burn on a seat base.
