Roundhouse-Model Die Casting 40' High Side Gondola Round End (C&O) - Chesapeake & Ohio - Metal HO Craftsman Kit with Sprung Metal Trucks, 1/87, G300T
Exc   Metal   old
$32

Includes working sprung metal trucks. Roundhouse (by Model Die Casting) was a famous manufacture of HO Craftsman kits in the 1940s/1950s. This is one of their all- metal car kits. Very well detailed and crisply cast with little or no flash. Molded in details are superb. Features all metal one piece floor, car ends, factory painted and lettered sides for C&O (black and white), three piece brake set, couplers, pocket doors, bushings, screws as needed, full instructions with drawings and more. The prepainted sides are as new and were only removed to take this photograph. The car ends, sides and floor are flat and straight for easy assembly. They are not warped, as is common with some all metal kits. The kit has never been started. Many parts are still factory sealed - those that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions.

Revell Douglas DC-7 Pan Am Airport Scene - 'S' Kit with Boarding Ramp / Stanchions / Gasoline Truck & Trailer / Tractor with 3 Baggage Carts / Aircraft Tractor and 7 Figures, 1/122, H257
Exc   Injection Molded   old
$2000

Very rare. The Pan Am Airport Scene was commissioned by Pan Am in the late 1950s and only sold through the airline, not through Revell distributors. This has made the kit one of the rarest Revell kits in existence. It is widely considered an 'S' kit since it was made at that time and features that style of artwork, but the box does not have the yellow 'S' anywhere on it. It contains all the parts and markings listed in the title and makes an incredible airport diorama. The box has excellent color and gloss with no tears or stains. Three corners are solid - the other has been repaired very neatly with clear tape. There is general wear but no other damage. Inside, the parts are as new. All pieces are in the correct gloss silver and the Revell 'Swivel Base Display Stand' is molded in clear. The airport accessories are still sealed in the original factory bag, including the metal axles. The unique decal sheet for this special issue is intact and never cut. It contains Pan Am DC-7 decals and markings for the ground equipment. The decals are flat but have some yellowing. On the back they have the correct Revell markings and kit number to be original for this model. The instructions were missing from this kit, so I used large format paper to make a quality photocopy of an original set of instructions. This copy is the same size as the actual instructions, quite large. It is not many small sheets put together. In all, an excellent investment piece that has never been started and is bag sealed and inventoried complete. Please note that Revell did NOT issue this kit with paper 'carpet' like the United Airlines Flight 707 Airport Scene. The 'carpet' has been intentionally de-listed from the area of the box that describes the contents and has been removed from the instructions as well. Although this kit does not have an 'S' on it, I have included it as an 'S' kit since it is from that time frame and shares the common box art theme.
H&F Model Airplane Co The Bee - 48 inch Wingspan Free Flight or R/C
H&F Model Airplane Co The Bee - 48 inch Wingspan Free Flight or R/C
Exc   Wood   old
$89

H&F was out of Brooklyn, NY in the 1930/40s. Rare 1930s free flight model for B Class Competition. Since this model is super-stable, it would make an ideal conversion to RC. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started - it even includes 1930s style low profile wheels/tires. Complete with all parts, plans and decals (if originally included). Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and early gas powered models, all powered by Brown engines, took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

During this time, some fantastic Cold War kits were produced of Russian Airliners and Military Helicopters and Aircraft. Never started. Although all parts are present, one propeller has one blade broken off, which is missing. Otherwise inventoried 100% complete with all aircraft parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/48, 102-100
Mint   Injection Molded   old
$65

Mint condition hardbox. This is the 4th known issue of this classic kit, and the second one to share the 102-100 kit number. The blue oval logo dates from the early 1960s. This is only the second box artwork used for this kit, and John Steel replaced Cox for the 'new look' from Aurora. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

Good   Injection Molded   old
$85

First issue dated 1958 with 'Famous Fighters' in the sunburst logo. Classic Jo Kotula artwork. Large 1/48 scale model that is very nicely detailed for the time. Molded in the correct burgundy and black. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: one fuel line has 1mm of the tip broken off and missing. Decals are intact but have visible cracks. Instructions are badly stained but complete. Box appears much better than the 'Good' grade. There is a fine cut on on the box top that is very hard to see and a large dent in the upper top side. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.
Scale Flight Comet's Stinson 105 - 16 inch Wingspan Dime Scale Flying Airplane, Dime
Scale Flight Comet's Stinson 105 - 16 inch Wingspan Dime Scale Flying Airplane, Dime
NM   Wood   old
$18

Scale Flight Model Company in Bloomington, Indiana, USA was dedicated to releasing authentic reproductions of the finest "Dime Scale" flying model (stick and tissue) kits from the 1930s/40s. Dime Scale models used to sell for a dime in the 1930's, hence the name. They are actually box scale, but as a general guideline, they usually had a wingspan of 16 inches and have simple and light construction. "Dime Scale" models are now a class flown in some competitions. Kit consists of contest grade printwood, contest quality strip wood, machine cut balsa propeller, the best Japanese tissue, wooden wheels, competition bushed nose plug, brass thrust washers, prop shaft, prop freewheeler, FAI rubber strip motor and a copy of a genuine dime scale plan that was used in the 1930s-1940s. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.
Aurora Lockheed F-90 Fighter, 1/48, 33-98
Aurora Lockheed F-90 Fighter, 1/48, 33-98
Exc++   Injection Molded   old
$200

Rare 1/48 scale kit. Hardbox is dated 1958, but the logo tells us that this is a very late 1950 to early 1960s issue since the 'Famous Fighters' is not present in the oval logo but the sunburst still is. This is reissue of one of Aurora's first two kits (F-90 and F9F) which were copies of the Hawk molds. The original issue did not have landing gear and rockets; this issue does and also has the correct triangle two-piece clear base. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.

ITC F-108 Rapier with Booster and Launching Platform, 1/89, 3663-149
Exc++++   Injection Molded   old
$2250

Very rare kit from 1960 in exceptional condition. The box is superb with factory gloss and color, four solid corners, no price tags, factory tape marks only with no tape tears or any litho tears. It is free of creases and 'dishing'. The only wear is a very small amount of corner and edge wear and light scuffs. Very interesting kit with raised and recessed panel line detail. The kit comes with the proposed operating zero-length launching system and fall-away rocket booster. The booster is detachable from the F-108 (if you wish). The aircraft has moving canards and the launcher elevates to launching position then back to storage position. Molded in the correct ivory plastic with metal parts for the elevation mechanism. The kit includes the correct decals and instructions as well. The decals have no yellowing and are perfectly flat. ITC packed the decals in a clear bag (with the metal parts) that was smaller than the decals so they are almost always bent. These have the typical fold and have been neatly reinforced with clear tape on the back. The instructions are excellent with typical yellowing, factory folds only and no tears or edge wear. The kit has not been started. It has been inventoried complete with every plastic part, metal part, decals and instructions as well as the Ideal Quality 'Inspection Slip'. The F-108 was a proposed interceptor and escort for the B-70 tri-sonic bomber and ITC was quick to capitalize on this new design. The kit was produced quickly and the rest is history. When the F-108 hit the shelves, it did not look like the design. Photos had been released by the US Air Force of the mock-up that were not available when ITC made the molds. This and the cancellation of the F-108 program lead to a very short release life for the Rapier and ITC quickly pulled it from the shelves. NOTE: shipping insurance is required.
