Monogram OS2U-3 Kingfisher - RAF or US Navy Blue Box Issue - (OS2U3), 1/48, PA135-150

First issue dated 1966. This kit is part of the very famous line of Monogram 1/48 scale World War II action kits. Very finely molded and detailed kit for that time with traditional high Monogram quality. Features optional parts so you can built a the shipbased (float) or wheeled land version, good cockpit detail, underwing bombs, elevating and rotating gun, pilot and gunner figures, five piece canopy that can be positioned closed or in several open configurations and choice of US Navy or Royal Navy decals. The Royal Navy aircraft were called Kingfisher I and 100 of them were delivered with both wheel and float gear. The US Navy aircraft is that of Lieutenant William F. Eadie from a Kingfisher squadron based in the Ellice Islands. He spotted and rescued Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker and his companions after they had been on a raft in the Pacific for 21 days and virtually given up for lost. Lt. Eadie moved the most injured into the radio compartment while Rickenbacker and the other crew member were lashed to the wings. Eadie figured that the aircraft could not fly, and luckily he met a PT boat and transfered the uninjured men to it.

Still factory sealed. 1950s Soviet twin engine trainer, mainly used for navigational flights. The Soviet Air Force preferred the Il-28U, so this Yak did not enter mass production.

Large and highly detailed kit of the famous Italian Navy training sailing ship. Includes vacuform billowing sails, rigging material and full rigging instructions. There has been no assembly. NOTE: the hull has been painted below the waterline. Quality of paint is 'good.' You can paint over it or remove it with spray oven cleaner, DOT 3 brake fluid or any other safe plastic stripper. Some parts are still in the factory sealed bags. The parts that are not internally sealed sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions.

Never started. Inventoried with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Sword Fairchild 91 (A-942) F-91 - Japanese or Spanish Nationalist, 1/72, SW72013

Still factory sealed. Very well detailed and molded kit with resin details. The model 91 was originally ordered by Pan Am as an improvement on the S-38. Pan Am took delivery of two and they were used by their Brazilian branch, Panair do Brazil. This is how the name 'Jungle Clipper' was born. One 91 went to New Guinea, two ended up in service with the Japanese Armed Forces, one lead an fascinating live in the Spanish Civil War, and yet another was an executive transport owned by the famous high-speed boat driver Gar Wood.

From Aoshima molds with box art by Scott Eidson. Nice early kit molded in dark navy blue and clear, with rotating prop, working ailerons and flaps and opening canopy. Has decals for pre-war USAAF. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufactures and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

Revell 1953 MG TD Highway Pioneers - Series 4, 1/32, H52-69

1953 early issue molded in bright red plastic. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory 'krinkle' sealed bag and includes instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Monogram F-51D Mustang Action Model (P-51), 1/32, 6847

1973 White Box issue of this classic large-scale 'Action Model' from the original Four Star Monogram line. Canopy opens and closes to show highly detailed cockpit. Tiny levers under the wings drop 2 bombs. Knob on the bottom rotates and extends/retracts main gear and tail wheel; all gear doors including the tail wheel open and close automatically with the gear. Not only do these features sound great, but they work. My built kit is 30 years old and still functions like new. Very nicely detailed. Molded in silver, black and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: decals are intact but micro-cracked. NOTE: box is poor and both short side panels are missing.
