The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: decals are intact but have staining.. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Joe Ott Joe Ott Bild-A-Set 30 inch wingspan Douglas SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber - Balsa Wood Flying Model Airplane Kit, 502

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Rare 30 inch wingspan kit dated 1944. The Joe Ott designed 'Bilt-A-Set' series was the height of the classic stick and tissue flying model kits- not just for the box art, but also for the contents. The large wingspan kits were the top of the Joe Ott line and had a price tag to match. They were out of reach of most children in the 1940s. Fewer were produced, which makes them harder to find today. In a time when most kits came only with white tissue, printed wood and plans, the Bilt-A-Set line box came chock full of parts and features like Assembly Line jigs for straight fuselage and nacelles, Speedlok Clamps, Die cut plywood or balsa parts sheet, die cut cardstock sheets, colored tissue, color printed national markings, clear window material, fully illustrated instructions and more. This kit has not been started. No parts have been removed from the sheets and it is 100% complete.

Veron Fairy Swordfish - 18 inch Wingspan Flying Model Airplane, 21

Veron models were made by Model Aircraft (Bournemouth) Ltd. In Bournemouth, Great Britain. Three of the product lines were 'Kwik-Fix' gliders, 'Super Truscale' (sold kits) and 'Tru-Flite' (stick and tissue kits). This Tru-Flite kit contains high quality printwood and strip wood, hardware, rubber, beautifully drawn full size plans, detailed instructions and plastic wheels, prop and thrust bearing. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Sterling Nieuport 17 - 24 inch Wingspan for RC - Launches Rockets in Flight, A5-298

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

24 inch wingspan kit for RC, free flight or control line. Includes innovative system for automatically firing wing rockets in flight. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occured in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, clear vacuform canopy, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
